💡 culture, architecture, wine
Do you love culture, architecture and the occasional glass of wine? Then this multi-day trip is the perfect holiday escape for you. You will discover the highlights of Barcelona by e-bike and on foot. And to finish in style, you will dive into the world-famous Penedès wine region to taste local eco-wines!
Day 1: Discover Barcelona by e-bike
During a pleasant bike ride, Dieter will take you on an e-bike through the winding alleys of the Gothic Quarter, where you will discover colourful street art and come face to face with some of the gems of the famous architect Gaudí in the Eixample district. In between, you will sample Catalan delicacies and learn about typical Catalan traditions. Of course, a stop at the Sagrada Familia is a must. Afterwards, we cycle through the imposing Arc de Triomf to the green Parc de la Ciutadella. We end with a delightful ride along the beach of La Barceloneta.
Day 2: In the footsteps of the Olympic Games
In the morning, we walk from Plaça d'Espanya along the majestic avenue up Montjuïc hill. Here, many mouths fall open in amazement: you have a spectacular view of the city. Don't worry, there are escalators!
You will discover everything about the 1992 Olympic Games, the sporting event that completely transformed Barcelona into the cosmopolitan city it is today. Optionally, we will have lunch in the popular Carrer de Blai, where you can enjoy some delicious Basque ‘pintxos’.
Day 3: Sitges and its renowned wines
In the morning, we take the train to Sitges, a charming seaside resort with beautiful houses and fantastic views of the Mediterranean Sea. Our private driver takes us to a local eco-winery in the Penedès. Here, our English-speaking guide takes us through the rolling vineyards and historic wine cellars. You learn why this region is the cradle of many quality wines. Of course, we end with a well-deserved tasting and sample some refined local wines. Our visit is private, so you don't have to join a large group or endure mass tourism.
Back in Sitges, we enjoy a delicious lunch (optional). In the afternoon, Dieter takes you on a leisurely walk along the beach with fascinating facts and local anecdotes about this charming coastal town known for its artists, festivals and lively atmosphere. We finish with a glass of bubbly overlooking the sea. Afterwards, we head back to Barcelona, just in time to enjoy one last evening in the Catalan capital!
We had three fantastic days with Dieter. He took us back to the Olympic Games of 1992, the seaside resort of Sitges and a beautiful Catalan vineyard. His knowledge, enthusiasm and personal approach made every day unique and fascinating. Everything was perfectly organised and tailored to our interests. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to discover Barcelona and its surroundings in a relaxed and authentic manner, away from the crowds!
